Ultrasound places
I can not stop thinking about having to wait another 8 weeks or so before we find out the sex of the baby or see the baby again. I have been doing some research about local ultrasound places and there is one 5 minutes from my office that offers a gender determination ultrasound for $89. I would love, love, love to find out before Christmas to tell our parents. What do you guys think? Would you do that or did you do something similar? I think $89 is totally worth it, they also have these huge rooms with sofas to accommodate 6 people to watch the ultrasound, should have our parents go the appointment with us to all find out together. That would make a pretty cool Christmas present, huh?
7 lovely notes from friends:
I would do it, however not this early. I totally understand how anxious you are but paying that amount of money will not promise that you will find out the sex of the baby. So yes, if you were further along and no at this point.
My friend did hers just after 15 weeks and they could easily tell. The place was very nice and the people working there were so sweet! She even got a coupon for like $25 off to come back around 30 weeks for a 4D. I got to go with her to the latter ultrasound and it was great, in fact I plan on doing the same thing when I get preggo. I think its worth it!!
It seems a bit early, but I think that sounds like the best Christmas gift ever!!! Go for it!
We waited until our 20 week ultrasound. Was it miserable waiting? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. A friend of mine bought a gender prediction pee kit from walgreens and it was right. I think waiting and the anticipation is so rewarding though. Plus it gets more accurate the longer you wait. You'd hate to get false results.
Sounds fun, but really they aren't very accurate until ~18 weeks. You may get the wrong answer....I dunno, those places like to advertise that they can tell you so much earlier, but from a medical standpoint the likelihood of them being accurate is probably just over the likelihood of them guessing correctly. It's a toss up.
I would do it in a heartbeat:D And just having a extra ultra sound would be worth it to me!(even if they could not tell the gender) Its so exciting every time you see you baby on ultra sound! It was for me anyway.
Do what feels best for you. If you want to do it..GO FOR IT!
I wish there was something like that around where I lived. I might have to research that a bit;)
take care!
Word of warning on this...my friend went for an early gender ultrasound at 16 weeks. They told her she was having a boy...then at her 20 week doctor's sonogram, they told her she was having a girl!! (It's since been confirmed girl several times, but she's still nervous about it!) We found out at 20 weeks, and it was wonderful! I do know of a place in Tampa that will guarantee the results I think at 15 weeks, so let me know if you want me to track down the info for you.
