Cloth Diaper stash
Our cloth diapering stash has begun to increase! Thanks to my friends and my awesome Mom.
We registered for some Bum Genius 4.0 All-in-ones (I call these Daddy Diapers), which we received a few of but my main stash is coming from GoGreen Pocket Diapers. You can peruse their website here. The reason I am going with GoGreen the most is because one of my best friends uses their cloth diapers and she raves about them. They are half the cost of some of the more popular brands like, BumGenius, Fuzzibunz and G-Diapers. GoGreen Pocket Diapers range from $8.99-$14.99 for the new Champ versus $20-30 for the other brands. I have changed quite a few of her little girls pocket diapers and must say I love them.
Last night the owner of GoGreen announced on Face.book that she had new inventory and a new version of her diapers called The Champ 2.0. I have been waiting weeks for her to get inventory again. All she had left were girl colors and prints, I don't think she has quite gathered how popular her diapers are yet. Anyway I called my Mom and let her know and she said "I want to order you 10, here's my credit card number". Wow, thanks Mom! We now have a total of 15 diapers but still need a few more to be able to go more than one day without doing laundry. So far, personally, I have only spent about $75.00 on diapers that will last me until he is potty trained. I'd say that is a pretty good deal. Of course I still want to buy quite a few more diapers so that number will increase but it will in no way reach what we would spend in disposables.
I can't wait to put him in his new diapers and start writing more about our experience. Now all I need is some laundry detergent so I can wash all these new diapers.

4 lovely notes from friends:
I have been trying to comment on this since yesterday... I guess blogger has been down. Anyways, reading this post made me smile. I always get so excited when I see other people that are going to be using cloth diapers. We didn't start using cloth until after our daughter was one, but it is something I wish I would've done from the time we brought her home from the hospital. If we are ever blessed with a second child, at least I won't have to buy diapers again. :) We have bumGenius, smartipants (<--- for us this was the worst diaper... always leaked!), Kawaii & Just Simply Baby Cloth diapers. bumGenius diapers were my favorite for night time (with a doubler) or when leaving the house, and JustSimplyBaby cloth diapers were my favorite for daytime. I love cloth. :) Anyways, only a few more weeks until your baby is here!! :)
Oooh I'm going to CD too! I'm stocking up on Flip Diapers but I'll definitely check these out. I found a recipe for CD detergent at http://www.theecofriendlyfamily.com/2009/08/cloth-diaper-detergent.html that I am planning on using. The "official" detergents are SO expensive! Kind of defeats the purpose of CD'ing. My best friend uses Rockin Green and swears that if I use this recipe (which has Borax) that it will void the diaper warranties. But I figure that the cost savings outweighs the risk and if I have one or two that get worn out I'll just buy more. I'll still save on the detergent in the long run. I am planning on doing a CD post too, but waiting until after my cloth diaper shower in July. :)
Anna, I found Charlies Soap at a grocery store here called Fresh Market. I don't know if there is one by you but they sell the 80 load jar for only $9.99. 5 bucks a month I can handle.
i LOOOOOOOOVE cloth diapering! It's the best! We use bumGenius!
xo,
Amy
